Hi, I’m Ashley.
I have been working in the helping field for two decades in youth development and community outreach. In 2017 I graduated from Friends University, Kansas City with a Masters of Family Therapy and began working in private practice. After nine years in this field, I am incredibly skilled at creating nonjudgmental space for my client’s experiences.
My theoretical lenses include: Intersectional Feminist Theory, Emotion Focused Couples Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. Essentially, I believe that each person’s experience is valid and real. This foundational belief helps me construct an authentic understanding of the problems that exist between your Self and your most meaningful relationships. My approach is client-centered and strengths-based which enables me to guide my clients through personal exploration without harsh or critical judgement of Self.
Clients often find themselves laughing, drawing, and dreaming with me in session because I believe turning toward our experiences requires a sense of humor and creativity. If this connects with you, I would love to chat about working together!

Therapy is for everyone! We all have a desire to be seen and heard; therapy is an intentional space where you will be able to tell you story with the confidence that it will be held with care.
A few different factors play a role in how often a client comes to therapy and I am always open with my clients about the frequency of attendance. Most of my clients come weekly initially to establish and build relationship and then we make adjustments to their schedule as needed and discussed.

The purpose of consultation is make sure that we are a good fit for therapy. I will ask you to share a little of your story and what you hope to accomplish, and you will be able to ask me questions about my practice and how I can support you.
As a therapist, it’s also important for me to have the best skills or approach to meet your needs. If for some reason you feel like you’d like to meet with another therapist or I believe that another therapist might better be able to meet your needs, I will help you find a few other therapists to contact!

Wondering what to expect from a first session? Whether you’re in person or virtual, your first session will focus on obtaining the most meaningful information for our work to be successful.
Typically the first few sessions are about why you want to come to therapy, your background, and what you hope will be different after we’ve completed our work together. The structure for these sessions is my responsibility; you get to come as your most authentic Self and answer questions you feel comfortable answering.

I charge $175 for a 50 minute individual and couple sessions. Extended sessions will be charged based on the same rate of $175/50 minutes. I am an out of network provider, meaning I do not take insurance. Clients are able to use their FSA/HSA cards and I am able to provide all clients with a receipt ("superbill”) to turn into their insurance provider for potential reimbursement of Out of Network (OON) benefits. I also provide a sliding scale based on my openings.

At present I am seeing clients virtually. All appointments are scheduled via your online portal where you can access the link to your HIPAA compliant virtual session. You are also able to receive appointment links to your email and via text message.

In compliance with the No Surprises Act that went into effect January 1, 2022, all healthcare providers are required to notify clients of their Federal rights and protections against “surprise billing.”
Your Rights Under This New Act:
-You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
-You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
-Make sure your healthcare provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
-If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.

The safety of myself and my clients is very important to me. I am fully vaccinated and boosted and therefore no longer wear a mask in my office. I ask that my clients also do their best to reschedule or meet virtually if they aren’t feeling well or have a positive COVID-19 test. Meeting virtually due to health concerns is always an option.
